Many people love go karting. It has been a highly popular sport, giving people the power and adrenaline rush each time they are on the tracks. However, it used to be really expensive to buying a good go kart that would last. Also, it would cost you a few thousand dollars if you were to buy one that will give you the power and speed you desire. As a result to that, many people turn to building a go kart on their own.

That is perfectly fine and perhaps if you were to buy a decent engine, it would still be workable, allowing you to race with a few of your friends or so. However, a decent engine cost money and if you don't fix it right, you would probably ending up destroying the expensive engine in the first place. Also, with you do not have any welding skills, it would be nearly impossible to get your go kart up.

Many thinks that if you have some experience in fixing cars, you can build a go kart. Truthfully, it is not that easy. A lot of skills and tiny details go into it and you need to know how each and every part work before being able to build one that would fall apart on the first time you use it. Simply do a search on go karts in Yahoo answers and you will find many people asking for help on problems with their clutches, different mechanic parts, weird noises made by their go karts and so forth.

With all these nagging problems, how are you going to concentrate on getting to the right speed and controlling your go kart? You would be busy worrying and wondering if any part is going to fall off, figuring out if the weird noise caused is dangerous and more.

I'm not saying that it is not possible to build a go kart. It definitely is but you need skills and a lot of knowledge. After all, you don't want to spend weeks or months building your go kart and having it go crazy in a week or two. So if you are keen on building one, do your homework. Research to get the right skills and ask people who have done it before.

Another alternative to building a go kart is to buy it. Again, that used to cost big bucks but recently, it is not difficult to find great quality go karts at affordable prices.

A decent go kart could cost up to $4000 to $5000 and there are those that are even more expensive. There are cheaper alternatives going at $2000 to $3000. That I agree is still pretty steep.

However, if you were to look harder, it would not be difficult to find high quality go karts offering up to 9hp at slight above $1000. Some of these karts even include the renown Honda engines. Honda engines are well known for its quality and many cost way beyond $4000. But now there are manufacturers building karts with the Honda engine yet at a much more affordable price!

Besides that, many of these karts have warranty, making sure that your engine wouldn't be falling anytime soon, giving you a lasting and high quality go kart.
